  • What is a Library?

    1. a building or room containing collections of books, periodicals, and sometimes films and recorded music for people to read, borrow, or refer to.

The idea of the Library can be dated back to 700 BC in Mesopotamia and has been one of, if not the most important historic institutions. While arguably schools, universities, and colleges are heavily praised as being the foremost leaders in education, the library is the foremost leader in knowledge.

The Library as we know it is not only a place for people to gain knowledge of a world of topics, it’s also a living resource; In some cases it is the life-blood of a community; a place for people to gather and express ideas, a place for people to find assistance with employment, welfare, and guidance.

The purpose of the Library is not only to enrich the community it’s in, but to support it as well; to give those who are feeling lost and helpless a place to find solutions to the problems which they are encumbered with.

The staff of the Royal Oak Township Library is here to help you find answers to your questions, resources for your endeavors, and guidance for your problems.
